City Library Franco Basaglia of Vaiano
Presentation of the library
Established in 1983, the City library Franco Basaglia is situated in the present location since 2001. The public library with users throughout the Bisenzio Valley, pays particular attention to the relationship with children and young people, and works with the CDSE for the collection of documentary material on the history and culture of the valley.
The Library is a reference point for students and citizens of Vaiano, as well as an information point for events (reading workshops and activities for children, meetings with authors for schools, construction of art history courses for adults, implementation of the project “Born to Read” in collaboration with paediatricians) and cultural events organized in the local territory.
Of particular interest are: the childhood space, for children from 0 to 3 years and up to the first to years of primary school, the Library for children (up to the end of the middle school), the Hall of general reading and a local section which houses also a Fund from the Documentation Centre of Historical and Ethnographic of the Bisenzio Valley.
