National Boarding School Cicognini's library of Prato

Presentation of the library

The literary heritage kept in the Boarding School Cicognini is remarkable and is divided in five parts:

• The Cicogniniana Library which contains the texts of the Jesuit period and the first half of the nineteenth century (nearly 3.000 volumes including numerous Cinquecentine (books printed in the 16th century);
• The "modern" Library (over 4.000 volumes of the second half of the nineteenth century);
• The Fund "vannucciano" set up with the donation of Atto Vannucci;
• The "giorgiana" Library donated by the family of the former rector Paolo Giorgi (about 4.000 works);
• The last additions for use of internal schools.
