House museum of Francesco Datini

The House-Museum is located in the Datini Palace which was built in the second half of the XIV century. The Merchant of Prato left the Palace and all his belongings to the Foundation Casa Pia dei Ceppi.

Since the 4th April 2009 the Foundation has set up in their own spaces on the ground floor of the building a permanent exhibition depicting the life and the work of Francesco Datini and reconstruct the functions and the history of his home even under an artistic standpoint.

The itinerary of the museum runs through the ground floor of Palazzo Datini.
The exhibition is developed through a didactic apparatus in Italian and English, digitized reproductions and a selection of original letters.

You can see some areas of the house of the merchant with the splendid pictorial devices, many pictures, artefacts, works of art of the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries and original letters of Datini.

During the visit it will be shown the life of Francesco Datini, his work as a merchant, the history of his home and the Ceppo dei poveri of Francesco di Marco, the charity institution that he created in his will after his death.

It is possible to reserve guided tours for groups.
