Mumat: museum of textile machinery

The Mumat, museum of textile machinery (ex factory Meucci), illustrates the recent history of the Bisenzio Valley and its past of textile industry, its places full of industrial archaeology and especially the method to recycle rags that have made the city of Prato.
You can admire tools and textile machines ranging from the 800 to the half of the 900: Filandre, Cardato, the old turbine of the factory fed by the Bisenzio and still active up to an extremely rare example of a restored wooden frame.
The Mumat is the result of a collaboration between the Comune di Vernio, Textile Museum of Prato and the Comunità Montana Val di Bisenzio and is the first draft of the "diffused museum", means one of the museum of the museums network that is linked to the sites of textile, with the Textile Museum is in the front row.
